Weekly forecast at work and at school
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG / WECP) – We will have mostly cloudy skies this evening with a 20% chance of a few showers. The minimums will drop to around 70 degrees. As we begin the new work and school week, the weather will get a little choppy thanks to a cold front entering from the west. An area of low pressure should then develop along this front next Tuesday, which will increase our chances of rain to 70-80%. This system will bring numerous showers and storms to the Panhandle throughout the week. Rain totals could vary from 1 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts possible.
By Friday, the momentum will gather in the upper levels, which will help push the front east and allow the high pressure to re-establish itself. Once the high pressure is set by the end of the week, sun and less humid weather will return for the weekend along with minimal chance of rain. Daily highs this week will average in the mid-80s and overnight lows in the 60s above nearly 70 degrees.
As for the tropics, everything is calm here. In the Atlantic, there is an area to watch over the southeastern Bahamas. Environmental conditions for this disturbance do not appear conducive to development as it moves northwest this week. This system does not appear to have an impact on the United States at the moment. Tropical Depression Victor appears to encounter shear and dry air that will allow him to die out. Hurricane Sam continues to remain hurricane force as it continues to push through the northeast Atlantic, environmental conditions through midweek will also weaken this storm.
