News: Shakespeare Theater Company announces lineup changes for 2021/22 season
Washington, D.C. January 19, 2022 – The Run of the Shakespeare Theater Company production of “Our city” have been reported. The show, directed by Associate Artistic Director, Alan Paul, and featuring a cast of DMV-based actors, will be moved from February 17-March 22 to May 12-June 12, 2022. To accommodate this adjustment to the schedule of the season, Simon Godwin’s long-awaited production “A lot of noise for nothing” will be moved to the 2022/23 season, with specific air dates to be announced later. Ticket holders for both shows will soon receive further information regarding the new performance dates.
Although the data suggests the Omicron variant is peaking, the theater believes audiences will feel more comfortable returning to their spaces in the spring. Executive Director Chris Jennings says, “It is imperative that we make choices to help protect the theater as well as our community. The decision to suspend our season until March is to protect Shakespeare Theater Company staff, performers and audiences.
The Shakespeare Theater Company looks forward to welcoming audiences back for the remainder of an incredible season beginning with “the Merchant of Venice” in March, “Our city” in May, and “red velvet” in June. Jennings continues:We thank our audiences and the DC theater community for their understanding, support, patience, and continued ability to adapt.
