IIT Madras launches application for online data science program
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has opened the application window for the online data science program. Students who have taken the class 12 exam and studied English and math in class 10 can apply online before August 30 on the institute’s official website – onlinedegree.iitm.ac.in. Courses in the online data science program will begin in September 2021.
This program, said an IIT Madras, provides a unique opportunity to study at the institute without having to go through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Students can pursue the degree in Programming and Data Science with their on-campus courses.
The UG Online program is offered in three different stages: Core Program, Diploma Program, and Diploma Program. Students can exit the program at any time and receive a certificate, diploma or diploma respectively from IIT Madras.
As part of the application process, all applicants will go through a qualification process, during which IIT Madras offers four weeks of online training via video lectures, homework and live interactions with course instructors. After completing the online homework, students can take the qualifying exam. Learners who pass the qualifying exam will be offered entry to the basic level.
IIT Madras will also provide scholarships of up to 75 percent of tuition fees to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Highlighting the unique aspects of this program, Professor Andrew Thangaraj, Professor in charge of the Data Science Program, IIT Madras, said: “One can have a career in programming and data science with this degree from IIT Madras . The first batch completes Foundation level in August 2021 and convocation is being planned. “
In addition, Professor Andrew Thangaraj said: “With this program, IIT Madras offers a learning opportunity of the highest quality to a very large number of learners, without compromising the rigor of the process. The combination of online courses and proctored in-person exams achieves this.
A total of 7,116 learners joined the first batch of the basic level after completing the qualification process. Students through regular entry can join the Diploma level after completing the Basic level. At the degree level, students can either do a programming degree or a data science degree or both.
