CCNO considers a new programming contract | Local News
STRYKER – A new contract for programming at the Northwestern Ohio Correctional Center (CCNO) near here will have to wait a little longer.
The issue was discussed at a special CCNO Board of Directors meeting via Zoom on Tuesday morning.
Only one offer was received for a new contract to provide services such as drug and alcohol counseling / treatment and mental health services. Midwest Recovery Center, Toledo, was the sole bidder, offering a quote of $ 406,272.20.
The board will allow CCNO Executive Director Dennis Sullivan to review the bid before making a decision on the contract.
âIt will give me the opportunity to talk to them (Midwest Recovery Center) and make sure they can do whatever we want and that we understand their proposition,â he said. The Crescent-News in an interview after Tuesday’s meeting.
The current contract with A Renewed Mind – at a cost of around $ 287,000 – will expire in June as the company has indicated it cannot staff enough, according to Sullivan.
A short interval of CCNO services can occur between the end of this contract and the start of a new one, he said.
The next regular meeting of the CCNO’s Board of Directors is scheduled for June 23, when the programming contract should be brought up for discussion.
In other Tuesday business, the board:
â¢ approved the use of Poggemeyer Design Group, Bowling Green, to plan the redevelopment of CCNO Unit C – a 48 cell area with no toilets – into cells with toilets. Currently, inmates in the unit share a toilet. Sullivan said Poggemeyer was selected through a scoring system. A committee made up of two CCNO board members and two staff members reviewed offers from Poggemeyer, which has a Defiance office; Architects Beilharz, Defiance; and K2M Design Inc., Cleveland.
